DESCRIPTION:Xiangyu Zhou (clarinet)\, Linlin Fan (piano) \nThe program includes: \nClaude Debussy – Violin Sonata\nJohannes Brahms – Violin Sonata No. 2 in A\, Op. 100\nCamille Saint-Saëns – Introduction and Rondo capriccioso Op. 28 \nAfter the concert there are small appetizers and always a full glass according to taste. Admission to the concerts is free\, but we would be delighted if you would make an appropriate donation to enable the small-scale culture with KLArinettenanteil at Obere Königstraße 15 to continue in the future. \nXiangyu Zhou (Clarinet) \nAward winning clarinetist\, Xiangyu Zhou\, began studying clarinet at age 10 with Yu Wang and Zheng Chi at the Xi’an Conservatory of Music. Zhou obtained his bachelor and master degrees from Juilliard\, where he studied with Charles Neidich. He also holds a DMA degree from Graduate Center\, CUNY.Zhou co-founded PUFF! Woodwind Quintet\, winner of the 2009 Arriaga Chamber Music Competition. PUFF! was a featured group at Juilliard’s annual Focus! Festival and made its Kennedy Center debut in May 2010. After relocating to Shanghai in 2011\, Zhou co-founded the 1380 Woodwind Quintet\, performing in the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Chamber Series and Shanghai Music Hall Music Afternoon Series.Zhou served as associate principal clarinet in the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra from 2011 to 2015 and toured with them in Asia and Europe. Zhou also served as guest assistant principal clarinet with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra in 2016\, and played E-flat clarinet with the Guiyang Symphony Orchestra in its 2016–2017 season.Zhou is currently the resident clarinet faculty of the Tianjin Juilliard School. \nLinlin Fan (piano) \nChinese pianist Linlin Fan is considered one of the most versatile musicians of her generation. She began her professional training at the age of twelve as a junior student at the Xi’an College of Music in China. In 2003\, she continued her studies at the Nuremberg University of Music and graduated from the master class with distinction in 2011. In 2015\, she completed a master’s degree in song interpretation at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich.    \nShe has been teaching at the Nuremberg University of Music since 2008 and at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts since 2017. In 2011\, she received the Bavarian State Ministry’s scholarship for the promotion of equal opportunities for women in research and teaching for her outstanding achievements.  \nShe has won prizes at numerous international competitions and has performed at renowned festivals. Her artistic activities include regular concerts\, collaborations with outstanding artists and participation in various chamber music formations\, including with soloists such as Prof. Christiane Libor\, Prof. Julian Prégardien and Prof. Thomas E. Bauer\, concertmaster Stanko Madic\, Moritz König\, the Cologne Trio\, the Eliesen Quartet and various renowned ensembles. \nShe is passionately committed to intercultural exchange between China and Germany and uses music as a bridge between the two cultures.
