SUMMARY:Concert with Luz y Sombra
DESCRIPTION:The Berlin trio Luz y Sombra gives tango nuevo a new face with their enthusiasm\, creativity\, and virtuosity. \nSince its founding almost 20 years ago\, the ensemble has been dedicated to the compositions of Astor Piazzolla\, presenting them in previously unheard arrangements for their instrumentation of violin\, clarinet/bass clarinet\, and piano. In doing so\, the three classically trained musicians continually reinvent both their own playing and Piazzolla’s music\, bringing it to the stage with ease and brilliance.  \nSince 2017\, the ensemble has also been performing as a quartet with singers Diego Valentín Flores and Nicolás Lartaun in concerts focusing on Piazzolla’s vocal music.\nNumerous concert tours have taken Luz y Sombra throughout Germany\, to other European countries\, and beyond. Their stages have included Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam\, the French Cathedral in Berlin\, and the Felicja Blumental Music Center Tel Aviv. In the spring of 2021\, Luz y Sombra was among the finalists in the International Piazzolla Music Competition.\nIn collaboration with Skycap Records and Galileo Records\, the trio has released three albums to date: Luz y Sombra (2012)\, Milonga Loca (2016)\, and Chiquilín (2021). The third album\, on which the trio invited singer Nicolás Lartaun as a guest artist\, was nominated for the German Record Critics’ Award 3/2021.    \nMiriam Erttmann – Viola \nCora Rott – Clarinet/Bass clarinet \nKatja Steinhäuser – piano \nProgram \nEncuentro \nA concert\, an encounter.\nPiazzolla meets Bach\, Bartók\, and Boulanger—tango meets jazz elements\, baroque forms\, and avant-garde harmonies.\nSince 2007\, the Luz y Sombra ensemble has specialized in the music of Astor Piazzolla. Now the Berlin trio is turning its attention to the composers who inspired his musical language\, allowing Piazzolla to enter into a musical dialogue with his role models. SUMMARY:Duet concert with claripiano
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted that the Slovenian duo Claripiano is returning to the KLAngwerkstatt with more special music from their homeland. \nTatjana Kaučič (piano) and Dušan Sodja (clarinet) received the highest award for their music\, the “Lipovšek Prize” from the Slovenian Composers’ Association for the presentation of Slovenian music.\nOn this evening\, they will play works by Slovenian composers Andrej Makor\, Črt Sojar Voglar and Nenad Firšt from different generations\, specially dedicated to their duo. On the other hand\, the program will be complemented by two rarely performed works: “Three Duets” by Robert Schumann – in an arrangement for pedal piano\, arranged by Howard Ferguson and the “Sonata op.129” by the Irish composer Charles V. Stanford\, a contemporary of Johannes Brahms.\nThe CD ’30 Claripiano’ with these compositions was released in 2025 and will be available on this evening.  \nAdmission to the concerts is free\, drinks and snacks are provided. DESCRIPTION:What does a klezmer play at Christmas time! Well\, on the one hand\, there is the Hanukkah festival\, which fits well into the dark season with lots of lights and delicious food and great melodies. And on the other hand\, did you know that “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”\, “White Christmas” and many other Christmas hits were written by Jewish composers?   \nHelmut Eisel (clarinets) & Sebastian Voltz (piano) use these components to knit an unconventional Christmas concert that invites different cultures to a convivial and peaceful coexistence. \nOne can perhaps even understand that in earlier times Christian children went to their Jewish friends to celebrate Hanukkah together. Admission to the concerts is free\, but we would be delighted if you would make an appropriate donation to enable the small-scale culture with KLArinettenanteil at Obere Königstraße 15 to continue in the future. \nXiangyu Zhou (Clarinet) \nAward winning clarinetist\, Xiangyu Zhou\, began studying clarinet at age 10 with Yu Wang and Zheng Chi at the Xi’an Conservatory of Music. Zhou obtained his bachelor and master degrees from Juilliard\, where he studied with Charles Neidich. He also holds a DMA degree from Graduate Center\, CUNY.Zhou co-founded PUFF! Woodwind Quintet\, winner of the 2009 Arriaga Chamber Music Competition. PUFF! was a featured group at Juilliard’s annual Focus! Festival and made its Kennedy Center debut in May 2010. After relocating to Shanghai in 2011\, Zhou co-founded the 1380 Woodwind Quintet\, performing in the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Chamber Series and Shanghai Music Hall Music Afternoon Series.Zhou served as associate principal clarinet in the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra from 2011 to 2015 and toured with them in Asia and Europe. Zhou also served as guest assistant principal clarinet with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra in 2016\, and played E-flat clarinet with the Guiyang Symphony Orchestra in its 2016–2017 season.Zhou is currently the resident clarinet faculty of the Tianjin Juilliard School. \nLinlin Fan (piano) \nChinese pianist Linlin Fan is considered one of the most versatile musicians of her generation. She began her professional training at the age of twelve as a junior student at the Xi’an College of Music in China. In 2003\, she continued her studies at the Nuremberg University of Music and graduated from the master class with distinction in 2011. In 2015\, she completed a master’s degree in song interpretation at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich.    \nShe has been teaching at the Nuremberg University of Music since 2008 and at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts since 2017. In 2011\, she received the Bavarian State Ministry’s scholarship for the promotion of equal opportunities for women in research and teaching for her outstanding achievements.  \nShe has won prizes at numerous international competitions and has performed at renowned festivals. Her artistic activities include regular concerts\, collaborations with outstanding artists and participation in various chamber music formations\, including with soloists such as Prof. Christiane Libor\, Prof. Julian Prégardien and Prof. Thomas E. Bauer\, concertmaster Stanko Madic\, Moritz König\, the Cologne Trio\, the Eliesen Quartet and various renowned ensembles. \nShe is passionately committed to intercultural exchange between China and Germany and uses music as a bridge between the two cultures. SUMMARY:Concert: Luxembourg Clarinet Ambassadors
DESCRIPTION:The Luxembourg Clarinet Ambassadors will play for the musical finale of our in-house exhibition. Founded in 2023 by the board members of the Luxembourg Clarinet Association\, the ensemble brings together orchestral musicians\, teachers and instrument makers from different nations – each with their own musical tradition. Whether as an intimate trio or an impressive octet\, whether with a lively E-flat clarinet or a sonorous contrabass clarinet – the Ambassadors show how versatile their family of instruments sounds. In addition to original works and arrangements\, the members are actively involved in new music and regularly commission composers from their home country to write works for clarinet.    \nTheir passport is already well filled: After their debut at the European Clarinet Congress in Tilburg (2023)\, invitations to the ICA ClarinetFest in Dublin (2024) and the European Clarinet Congress in Salerno (2024) followed. The Ambassadors will perform the closing concert at the Parc Hosingen International Clarinet Competition (2025). However\, their diplomatic missions not only take them to big stages – but also to places where music is often missing: hospitals\, care homes and social institutions.   \nIn Bamberg\, the ensemble will perform as a sextet\, consisting of Jean-Luc Blasius\, Romain Gross\, Mirjan Hasi\, Max Mausen\, Conny Steinmetz and Simone Weber. \nAfter all concerts and during the breaks\, there are small appetizers and always a full glass according to taste. SUMMARY:Concert: Clarimonia - Clarinet music from the classical period to the present day
DESCRIPTION:The ensemble “Clarimonia” (Bernhard Kösling\, Ekkehard Sauer\, Jochen Seggelke) takes us back to the time of Viennese Classicism\, played on historical replicas of clarinets and basset horns from the period. Together with Anton Säckl (Göttingen)\, they will play arrangements from the Prague music collection of Prince Clam-Gallas.\nThe musicians will then play the piece ‘Clarimonia’\, which was composed for them by Slava Cernavca. With its dance rhythms and melodies\, it takes us to the eastern Danube countries\, where the musical roots of the Munich-based composer lie.

DESCRIPTION:On \n                March 14 and 15  \n                we are visiting “Die Holzbläser” in Berlin. \n              \n\nThere you can try out our Seggelke clarinets\, from historical replicas to the modern Seggelke-Line and Schwenk&Seggelke. The exhibition takes place on Friday from 10 am to 6 pm\, on Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm. \nMusical variety is provided by Jochen Seggelke himself with the ensemble “Clarimonia” (together with Bernhard Kösling and Ekkehard Sauer).\n \n\n\n \n\nOn Friday\, Prof. Shirley Brill offers individual lessons. DESCRIPTION:ZIZAL tells stories\nZIZAL awakens emotions\nZIZAL plays music that tells stories of joy and pain\, that laughs and cries\, bubbles and hesitates\, sighs and complains\, sings and cheers and that brings out the very own stories in every listener. \nZIZAL combines elements of klezmer\, jazz and classical music and creates unique music on stage that thrives on the joy of playing and creativity of the three musicians. With a great deal of imagination\, the sounds of violin\, clarinet and piano are combined to create a unique musical language that can best be described as world chamber music.  \nReiner Kuttenberger (clarinet)\, Sebastian Voltz (piano) and David Ignatius (violin) \nWe are very pleased to have the group as guests in the KLAngwerkstatt once again. Admission is free\, but an appropriate donation for the musicians is requested.\nAs usual\, drinks and snacks are available for a donation during the interval.

DESCRIPTION:From February 13 to 16\, 2025\, Prof. Shirley Brill (Nuremberg University of Music) will give a master class at Seggelke Clarinets in Bamberg. \nThis is aimed at clarinet students and clarinettists who wish to study.\nEach participant will receive three hours (60 minutes each) of individual tuition from Prof. Shirley Brill. In addition\, Jochen Seggelke will give a guided tour of the clarinet workshop for all participants.\nThe course will conclude with a public concert with all participants in the Seggelke clarinet workshop on Sunday.\nThe number of participants is limited to six. \nCourse dates\nCourse location: Seggelke Clarinets\, Obere Königstraße 15\, 96052 Bamberg\nCourse start: Thursday\, February 13\, 2025\, 2 p.m.\nCourse end: Sunday\, February 16\, 2025\, after the final concert\, approx. 3 p.m.\nCourse fee: €300.
